What I Wore Today – Working Weekend

Much like all of my other weeks, this week has been super busy!

On Tuesday I got set an assignment to make the first toiles for my collection, within one week I have to make two dresses, a pair of trousers and a jacket. This doesn’t sound like a lot but when you take into consideration that I’ve been working two jobs four days a week it’s pretty overwhelming! I made the decision on Tuesday after being set all of this work that it was time to say goodbye to my job working at the Students Union.

With all the work I’ve been doing for Uni recently I’ve been feeling a bit exhausted so before I had work at New Look today I told myself I didn’t have to do anything, just relax a little. I let myself have a lie in, it was amazing! I’ve been rushing around so much that I’ve not really had much time to put into my appearance so as a luxury I actually did a full face of makeup this morning. It sounds really sad but I really enjoy doing my makeup. I probably shouldn’t, but I feel a lot more confident when I have really nice makeup on a day apposed to when I’m wearing none.

The dress that I wore today is one that I bought a few weeks back when I had my little splurge with my staff discount (oops!!) It’s really comfortable and I love how tailored it is. It is a bit short though and so not ideal for having to bend down and pick up hangers and clothes that have fallen on the floor. One of my favourite things when I’m working is someone coming up to me and asking where my outfit is from and being able to show it to them and then they buy it! I feel like I’m doing New Look proud!

I have work again tomorrow but I have next weekend off and I’m going home! I’m so excited to see my family and all of my lovely pets! I miss them all so much when I’m at Uni! If I’m organised enough I’ll hopefully try and write another post on my outfit tomorrow because after work I’m going to Banbury to meet one of my best friends for dinner! So excited and I want to look pretty for her! I think that treating yourself to little things like dinner out are important when you’re busy, you always need to remember to take the time to enjoy life!

Fashion – Fabric Shopping in Paris

Last week was a stressful week for me. Anyone who knows me personally will know that I spent my week in Paris sourcing the fabrics for my final collection! You’re probably now thinking to yourself “Why on earth is she complaining, she’s spent the week in Paris.. It could be worse?” but spending around ¬£1000 on fabrics for a collection that you’ve got no idea where it’s going is not easy, I’ll tell you that for free.

Before going I created a mood board with what I thought should be my colour scheme to make finding the fabrics that I thought were suitable a lot easier. If you’ve been keeping up to date with my blog you’ll know that I’m basing my FMP on the Palace of Versailles, so my fabrics had to be pretty ¬†rich and luxurious. Finding the fabrics in the store was difficult at first because there was literally so much to look at, but once I got into the swing of it there was no stopping me.

I’ve been saving for my collection for nearly a year but seeing the money disappear wasn’t as heart breaking as I first thought it would be. Although I am, and always have been pretty spend happy, I did work hard to save this money and I thought I might have found it harder to hand over the plastic. I think I found it so easy as I was so ruthless with my first spend, marching over to the cash desk and accepting my fate.

What wasn’t easy was having to lug around my purchases after so easily buying them, 70 metres of fabric is SOO heavy! It was 100% worth it though as I do have some really pretty fabrics for my final collection, which will getting there own post hopefully within the next week or so!

There wasn’t the time to do all of the touristy things I’d hoped for, but as I had only been two weeks before I wasn’t too disappointed. The fabric shopping district is very close to the Sacre Coeur so we did manage to squeeze in a quick trip to the top of the hill on our final day. I also had the chance to do a spot of shopping along the Champs Elysee to get a few bits and bobs that I’m sure will feature on my blog in the future.

The weather in Paris was amazing, I literally couldn’t have asked for it to be better because I know usually its absolutely freezing this time of year, but it was sunny every day and not too cold!

I’m pretty gutted that as soon as I got to Paris last Sunday I realised I’d left my SD card for my camera at home so unfortunately the only images I have are from my phone! It’s one of those things where I knew I was forgetting something and by the time I realised what it was it was too late!

Never the less I’ve managed to salvage a few images that are OK from my phone so you can see them below!

Unfortunately I have no more imminent trips to Paris planned, but I do love this City and more trips once I’ve finished my degree are guaranteed!

What I Wore Today – If You Believe You Can

*Disclaimer – As an employee I receive 50% off of all full priced New Look stock, the following items were too cute to not buy, hence breaking my resolution and to purchase for an AMAZING price*

So I was at work the other day feeling a bit rubbish about my chosen outfit of the day. As an employee you’re basically a walking mannequin for the store, so should always be in the stores clothes, and hopefully make them look great! I don’t like to feel like I’m doing a bad job but last weekend I certainly did! As a girl in fashion feeling like you’re badly dressed is soul crushing.

New Look have just brought their new line out for the run up to spring and have some super nice pieces that I just couldn’t resist. I only work a 4 hour contact as my schedule is pretty busy, but I could not stand another weekend of feeling as bad as I did!

The outfit I chose to wear today was to a conference we were having at uni about freelancing and starting your own business. I love talks like that because they make me so excited for the future and things that I could potentially do with my degree. I really think that starting a laid back business from home is something I’d like to do, but it’s everyone’s dream so pretty unlikely! But you know what they say ‘If you believe you can, you’re half way there.’ One of my teachers said this back in the day at school, and it’s always stuck with me! It’s probably one of my favourite motivational quotes.

I wanted to look nice as it was a talk with people from industry and it’s no good turning up looking scruffy! I was really unsure on the boots I wore, they’ve been sat in my wardrobe since I bought them just after Christmas. I’ve been too afraid to wear them as they’re a little bit different from anything else I’ve worn before. I’m so glad I wore them today, they’re so warm and comfortable, and made me feel great!

Challenge 2015 – What I Wore Today – Booking a Trip to Paris

I should probably start this post with another apology – because the dress I’m wearing here is new! Well, it came in my ASOS package with my top from my previous post! But that IS it now, I don’t think I have anything else that’s new!

This outfit is actually from yesterday, maybe one of my 2015 challenges should be to post my blogs on the right days! I still have a queue of posts waiting from June!

Yesterday was just a casual day at uni, but we didn’t have to be in until 11am so I had lots of time to do things in the morning, which I really like! We had a portfolio review to decide what work to keep in our portfolios and what work is now out dated and should be gotten rid of! It was one of those days where you spend a lot of time waiting and not a lot of time doing, but I don’t mind because sometimes it’s good to relax!

My day got considerably more exciting at about 7pm because I BOOKED FLIGHTS TO PARIS!

I’ve decided that for my Final Major Project I want to take inspiration from the Palace of Versailles and its baroque architecture. I’m really excited to visit, but also a little bit nervous as it’s so last minute! With everything that’s going on in Paris at the moment I felt a little bit scared to go alone so luckily my mum’s agreed to go with me! It will be nice to have an adult chaperone for once! I’m sure I’d be fine on my own, but it will be really fun for my mum to come along too.

Anyway, this is my outfit from my super exciting day!
