What I Wore Today – The Perfect Day

This weekend has officially been the best welcome to March – what started as a stressful and overwhelming week has turned into something far more relaxing and fun.

I drove home for the weekend on Thursday afternoon and have had so much fun since I’ve been back! On Friday I went shopping in Bath with my Mum which was lovely! Saturday was my Dad’s birthday so I spent the day with my Family just relaxing and going out for an evening meal. Sunday was the cherry on top of an already lovely weekend especially because the weather was so amazing!

I met with a few friends in the morning and we decided to drive to Burton Bradstock, a small beach in Dorset. Living on the coast is the best thing ever and I miss it so much when I’m at Uni so getting the chance to go home and have a walk on the beach is one of my favourite things to do!  Even though it was super sunny the beach was still cold (obviously) I really was hopeful that it was now summer and I could get away with no coat!

I had a little help from my favourite critter whilst taking the images for this post! Seeing my pets is always one of the main reasons I have to go home because I miss them so much when I’m away. Mischief is my dog, but she really believes that she’s human – and she wanted to be next to me in all of my photos! She’s adorable.

When I was in Bath with my mum I picked up a few new things including this t-shirt. It was one of the only things I saw and instantly fell in love with- I also saw a pink skirt that would go with it SO well but I managed to resist, proud of myself! On Saturday I popped into town with my sister Elspeth (who also took these pics! Thanks els) and found these beautiful sunglasses! I saw them and again fell instantly in love. Who needs boys when you have clothes!

I had such a lovely weekend but it really caught up with me this week and I fell a bit behind with my work hence why I’ve only just got around to posting this! I’m hoping that I can spare another weekend soon to go home again because it makes me so happy and I feel so much more refreshed!

What I Wore Today – Sunday Funday

Sometimes working all day everyday can get a bit too much, sometimes it doesn’t feel too bad at all. Today was one of those surprising days when I woke up feeling great, not tired, and ready to go!

Almost every week I dread going into work but today just didn’t feel quite as bad especially knowing that once I’d finished I was driving to Banbury to meet Poppy for dinner!

I was a little skeptical this morning when I was getting dressed that I wasn’t wearing tights. I think in pretty much all of my outfit posts so far I’m wearing tights. This is because England is cold, and miserable, and wet. I recently got this skirt on sale from Miss Selfridge, it was an absolute bargain but I thought it was just too pretty to ruin with black tights underneath.

Of course, when I’m working at New Look I have to wear at least one thing that’s from the store so today I opted for my white embellished blouse. I actually got this one before Christmas but I really love it, especially the sleeve detail. Sometimes I find it a little hard to pair it nicely with things but my new skirt was the perfect opportunity!

Working in a clothes shop is sometimes hell purely for the fact that you see so many nice clothes every single minute of the day but you can’t afford to buy them all! I think I must probably spend everything that I earn there buying more clothes that I’ve seen on my shifts. I really need to walk around blind folded to stop myself!

What I Wore Today – Working Weekend

Much like all of my other weeks, this week has been super busy!

On Tuesday I got set an assignment to make the first toiles for my collection, within one week I have to make two dresses, a pair of trousers and a jacket. This doesn’t sound like a lot but when you take into consideration that I’ve been working two jobs four days a week it’s pretty overwhelming! I made the decision on Tuesday after being set all of this work that it was time to say goodbye to my job working at the Students Union.

With all the work I’ve been doing for Uni recently I’ve been feeling a bit exhausted so before I had work at New Look today I told myself I didn’t have to do anything, just relax a little. I let myself have a lie in, it was amazing! I’ve been rushing around so much that I’ve not really had much time to put into my appearance so as a luxury I actually did a full face of makeup this morning. It sounds really sad but I really enjoy doing my makeup. I probably shouldn’t, but I feel a lot more confident when I have really nice makeup on a day apposed to when I’m wearing none.

The dress that I wore today is one that I bought a few weeks back when I had my little splurge with my staff discount (oops!!) It’s really comfortable and I love how tailored it is. It is a bit short though and so not ideal for having to bend down and pick up hangers and clothes that have fallen on the floor. One of my favourite things when I’m working is someone coming up to me and asking where my outfit is from and being able to show it to them and then they buy it! I feel like I’m doing New Look proud!

I have work again tomorrow but I have next weekend off and I’m going home! I’m so excited to see my family and all of my lovely pets! I miss them all so much when I’m at Uni! If I’m organised enough I’ll hopefully try and write another post on my outfit tomorrow because after work I’m going to Banbury to meet one of my best friends for dinner! So excited and I want to look pretty for her! I think that treating yourself to little things like dinner out are important when you’re busy, you always need to remember to take the time to enjoy life!

Fashion – Fabric Shopping in Paris

Last week was a stressful week for me. Anyone who knows me personally will know that I spent my week in Paris sourcing the fabrics for my final collection! You’re probably now thinking to yourself “Why on earth is she complaining, she’s spent the week in Paris.. It could be worse?” but spending around £1000 on fabrics for a collection that you’ve got no idea where it’s going is not easy, I’ll tell you that for free.

Before going I created a mood board with what I thought should be my colour scheme to make finding the fabrics that I thought were suitable a lot easier. If you’ve been keeping up to date with my blog you’ll know that I’m basing my FMP on the Palace of Versailles, so my fabrics had to be pretty  rich and luxurious. Finding the fabrics in the store was difficult at first because there was literally so much to look at, but once I got into the swing of it there was no stopping me.

I’ve been saving for my collection for nearly a year but seeing the money disappear wasn’t as heart breaking as I first thought it would be. Although I am, and always have been pretty spend happy, I did work hard to save this money and I thought I might have found it harder to hand over the plastic. I think I found it so easy as I was so ruthless with my first spend, marching over to the cash desk and accepting my fate.

What wasn’t easy was having to lug around my purchases after so easily buying them, 70 metres of fabric is SOO heavy! It was 100% worth it though as I do have some really pretty fabrics for my final collection, which will getting there own post hopefully within the next week or so!

There wasn’t the time to do all of the touristy things I’d hoped for, but as I had only been two weeks before I wasn’t too disappointed. The fabric shopping district is very close to the Sacre Coeur so we did manage to squeeze in a quick trip to the top of the hill on our final day. I also had the chance to do a spot of shopping along the Champs Elysee to get a few bits and bobs that I’m sure will feature on my blog in the future.

The weather in Paris was amazing, I literally couldn’t have asked for it to be better because I know usually its absolutely freezing this time of year, but it was sunny every day and not too cold!

I’m pretty gutted that as soon as I got to Paris last Sunday I realised I’d left my SD card for my camera at home so unfortunately the only images I have are from my phone! It’s one of those things where I knew I was forgetting something and by the time I realised what it was it was too late!

Never the less I’ve managed to salvage a few images that are OK from my phone so you can see them below!

Unfortunately I have no more imminent trips to Paris planned, but I do love this City and more trips once I’ve finished my degree are guaranteed!
